Overview & Scope
The GPA Calculator App is developed and maintained by Pramuda Kulathunga as a high performance offline first utility for university undergraduates. This Privacy Policy details the exact types of data collected, the purpose of collection, and security protocols enforced to guarantee your privacy.
Information We Collect
To calculate GPAs based on faculty credit weightings, sync progress across devices, and offer customizable degree paths, we collect minimal necessary data:
Account Profile
Full name, email address, and authentication user identifier provided during sign in (Email/Password or Google Sign In).
Academic Metadata
University name, faculty, department, batch number, active semester, and graduation credit targets.
Subject & Grade Data
Subject titles, codes, credit values, earned letter grades, and classification flags (Core, Non GPA, Auxiliary, Repeat).
Device & Security Settings
App visual theme (Dark/Light mode), local biometric authentication state, and offline database cache.
Purpose of Data Processing
- Calculating semester wise GPA and overall Cumulative GPA (CGPA) according to university formula standards.
- Synchronizing subject entries seamlessly across all your signed in Android mobile devices.
- Allowing fully customized university profiles, departments, and custom semester credit configurations.
- Generating official downloadable PDF summary sheets for personal records and credit verification.
Security & Storage Architecture
All network communications between the mobile application and cloud services are encrypted using industry standard 256 bit TLS/SSL protocols. Cloud database records are managed in Google Firebase Realtime Database with authenticated rules ensuring only you can read or edit your records:
Third Party Cloud Infrastructure
The application relies on trusted Google Cloud Infrastructure to provide secure authentication and database persistence. You can review Google's privacy commitments here:
User Control & Account Deletion
You retain complete ownership over your academic data. You can edit or delete individual subjects and reset academic records directly within the app. If you wish to permanently delete your user account and purge all cloud database records associated with your profile, please send an account deletion request to the developer at pramudakulathunga@gmail.com. All data deletion requests are verified and processed within 48 hours.
